Hip osteotomy (PAO)
Steroids + Local anesthetic / Hyaluronic acid (Durolane)
I currently do not perform this procedure but it is used to improve coverage of a shallow socket and help reduce hip pain. It can reduce the chance of developing arthritis prematurely.
Before Hip Arthroscopy and Hip replacement procedures were available Hip osteotomy was used to used for treating Hip arthritis. As it distorts the bone considerably and can potentially compromise Hip replacement it is rarely done nowadays except for surgery on the socket (PAO).
